When it comes to sun protection, we genrally think of sunscreen being smeared all over us and calling it a day. Right?
What if I told you that sunscreen alone IS NOT ENOUGH to prevent photo-aging, and sun damage, or even skin cancer?
The truth is we need to protectiong ourselves from the INSIDE, as well as the outside with targeted nutrition. Sunscreen at SPF 15 has only been shown to reduce the risk of Squamous Cell Carcinoma by 40%, and Malignant Melanoma by 50%.
There are 2 types of skin cancers:
1: Non-melanoma cancers
2: Malignant Melanoma
The types of non-melanoma cancers are:
Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) and
Basal Cell Carcinom (BCC).
Non-melanoma cancers are typically found on areas of the body that get more frequent sun exposure such as arms, face and ears.
In this week's coaching session, we will discuss the importance of adding dietary sunscreen into your sun protection routine. There are several foods that have bben shown in studies to help prevent sunburn, lessen redness from the sun and even protect against UV rays.
